The Indian Engineering Services (IES) is the engineering services that meet the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India. This Indian Engineering Services Examination (IES) is also called Engineering Services Exam (ESE) is conducted by UPSC, India every year. It is conducted for the recruitment to the engineering. The examination process includes the prelims (General Studies) and Main (Technical Knowledge). General Ability Test is subdivided into two groups i.e. General knowledge and Engineering Aptitude. The Preliminary exam is the same for all the Branches whether Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics and Communications. This exam is conducted for two hours and carries 200 marks. For Technical Aptitude, Papers II and III are taken. These papers separately contain 200 questions and each test is held for 2 hours. Main Exam (Paper IV and V) is the final and the toughest challenge to face among the examinees. The exam includes two papers both based on technical knowledge. Each of the papers IV and V is conducted for 3 hours and carries 200 marks. This is the final phase of the written tests.
