The Tata Institute Fundamental Research TCIS Hyderabad offers Ph.D. degree programmes under the Subject Board of Physics. They are looking for students in the following specific areas of research: Atomic/Molecular Physics, Laser Spectroscopy, Computational Physics, Material Science, NMR Spectroscopy, Biophysical Chemistry, Molecular Biophysics, Cell Biology, Theoretical Chemistry. Ph.D. degree programme The doctoral programme offers exciting research opportunities in a range of subject areas, and rigorous training aimed at fostering the broad academic growth of students and to meet the specialized needs of their research. Eligibility: M.Sc. (Physics) / B.Tech. & B.E. (Engineering Physics) / B.E. / B.Tech/ M.Tech. or equivalent science/engineering/medical degree that requires four or more years of university training. In addition the candidate must have qualified in any of the following examinations: The written test of TIFR (2016 or 2017) / GATE (Minimum valid score of 480 in 2016 or 2017)/ JEST 2016 or 2017 (Minimum rank of 50 or better) / CSIR UGC NET 2015 or 2016 (JRF eligible – Rank 50 or better). Candidates with M.Tech. / M.E. / M.S. (Engg.) can submit their earlier scores of GATE / equivalent. Admission procedure: Selected candidates (based on their academic performance and in the qualifying tests mentioned above) will be called for a personal interview probably during May/June’17 which will be held at TCIS, Hyderabad. Stipend- Ph.D.: Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs.25,000/-(enhanced to Rs.28,000/- after registration) and an annual contingency grant of Rs.32,000/-.
