About the Department

The B.Tech. course in Safety and Fire Engineering, when started in the year 1996 at Cochin University of Science and Technology, was the first of its kind in the country and has gained wide acceptance across the globe in the industry, academia and government services.

Apart from the UG and PG programmes, the Division offers Ph. D. programmes in the frontier areas of safety and fire engineering as well. T

About the Research Work

There are five approved research guides in the Division and the award of research projects funded by several organizations like DST, KSCSTE, AICTE, etc. is a proof of the research potential of the Division. Till 2015,

The Division has produced 12 Ph. Ds.; published 160 papers in international/national journals and conferences; and 23 research scholars are at different stages of their research works.

Consultancy Services

he Division is also active in providing consultancy services in the areas of safety auditing, risk assessment, structural scrutiny of buildings, strength assessment of fire damaged buildings, ergonomics, environmental impact assessment, etc

About the Placement : The Placement of the Department of the Fire And Safety is Good Above 90% of our passing out students are placed in reputed companies through campus recruitment.
