The Directorate of Distance Education at Vinayaka Mission University started its projects in 2005 with the goal of broadening access to higher for differentiated learners at national and worldwide levels.

The Unversity status was given by Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India with the suggestions of UGC (Established Under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956) to Vinayaka Mission as an affirmation of fabulousness and fulfillment for the most abnormal amounts of scholastic measures and its best foundation offices gave to accomplish brilliance in training.
