The Punjab Agricultural University was built up in 1962 to serve the condition of past Punjab. It was initiated by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Prime Minister of India on July 8, 1963.

Demonstrated on the example of land concede universities in U.S.A., the PAU plays out the coordinated elements of educating, research and augmentation in farming, rural building, home science and partnered disciplines. The University have very much prepared labs, library and address rooms and expound cultivate offices.

All India Coordinated Cotton Improvement Project - Centers

The Regional Station, Faridkot is situated in the agronomically most potential district - Zone IV (South-Western Zone) of Punjab . This station was built up in April 1970 and has around 45 section of land of rich fruitful, leveled and well laid out ranch region for experimentation.

The Mandate

Improvement of high yielding, early developing assortments and mixtures of cotton having predominant fiber quality and resistance/resilience to different biotic and abiotic stresses

Improvement of high yielding assortments of chickpea, mungbean and pigeonpea having better wholesome quality and resistance/resilience to different biotic and abiotic stresses

Advancement of right on time, mid and late developing assortments of sugarcane having high stick yield, high sugar and imperviousness to different biotic and abiotic stresses

Undertaking fundamental, vital and connected research for creating area particular yield administration innovation for boost generation of cotton, heartbeats and sugarcane

Testing and check of enhanced assortments of various field crops

Generation of fundamental and reproducer seed of enhanced assortments of cotton, heartbeats and different products

Spread of logical data to the ranchers

Crop Improvement:
The following cotton varieties/hybrids are developed/tested and released for cultivation in Punjab:

Crop Production and Protection Recommendations

Imidacloprid (Gaucho 70WS) @ 5 g/kg seed as seed treatment has been recommended for jassid control in cotton
Chickpea as an inter-crop in autumn sugarcane
Sowing in April of cotton crop is recommended
Plant to plant spacing of 60.0 cm in American cotton is recommended
Four Sprays of 2% KNO3 starting with the onset of flowering is recommended in cotton
To control whitefly in sugarcane Imidacloprid is recommended
Under brackish water conditions cultivation of CoJ 88 is recommended
