Re: Kotak Mahindra Bank CVV Number
CVV Number is Security Code For Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards, the card code is the last 3 digit number located on the back of your card. CVV numbers are NOT your PIN (Personal Identification Number), and you should never enter your PIN number when asked to provide a CVV. PIN numbers allow you to use your credit or debit card at an ATM or when making an in-person purchase with a debit card. CVV numbers are also known as CSC numbers (”Card Security Code”), as well as CVV2 numbers, which are the same as CVV numbers, except that they have been generated by a “2nd generation” algorithm that makes the numbers harder for credit card thieves to “guess”. How to spot your CVV number? For a Visa or MasterCard: Turn your card and look at the signature panel. Typically, 3 digits are highlighted or represented separately which is the designated CVV code. Security benefits: Virtual terminals and payment gateways do not store your CVV number which is prohibited as Per Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Therefore, customer service representatives who work with these vendors and have an access to web-based payment interfaces can access your card details like the number, expiration dates, name, etc. but not your CVV number. Limitation: A serious limitation is that, if the entire card has been duplicated by fraudsters and the magnetic strip copied, then the code will be valid (if the digits have been obtained). Thus, protect your CVV number and ensure that it is not revealed to anyone however near or dear. |
