UNIT 2 FUNDAMENTALS OF CELLULAR RADIO SYSTEMS DESIGN 9 Hrs. Challenges in cellular and mobile networks, Frequency reuse, Co channel interference, reduction factor, Omni directional antenna systems, Required carrier to interference ratio, cell splitting, consideration of the components of cellular systems, co-channel measurement design of antenna system, antenna parameter and their effects. UNIT 3 MODULATION METHODS 9 Hrs. Digital modulation techniques - OFDM, FDMA, TDMA, CDMA, CDMA capacity, probability of bit error considerations, CDMA compared with TDMA Spread spectrum Techniques – DSSS,FHSS. UNIT 4 MULTIPLE ACCESS TECHNIQUES FOR WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS 9 Hrs. Packet radio – Pure ALOHA, Slotted ALOHA, CSMA, Reservation ALOHA, PRMA - Capacity of Cellular Systems. UNIT 5 WIRELESS SYSTEMS AND STANDARDS 9 Hrs. CDMA features – Architecture – IS 95 – Forward and reverse channels – power control - system capacity., Wireless Networking – WLAN – PAN – Mobile network layer – Mobile Transport layer – Wireless data services, Common channel signalling.
