The University of Alabama in Huntsville Police Department is committed to providing excellent service to the UAH community. It is a fully empowered state law enforcement agency dedicated to the University of Alabama in Huntsville. It is a unit within the Finance and Administration division. Each UAH officer, like their state and municipal counterparts, must meet the strict standards established by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission. (APOSTC) Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning IS-546.A: Continuity of Operations Awareness Course This course introduces students to the concept of continuity planning. It provides a brief overview of continuity, including its definition, the legal basis for continuity planning, the Continuity Program Management Cycle, and essential elements of a viable continuity program. Although it directly addresses continuity requirements for Federal Executive branch organizations, the course is also useful to State, local, territorial, and tribal governments. Course Objectives: At the end of this course, students will be able to: Define continuity of operations. Identify the legal basis for continuity of operations. Explain the Continuity Program Management Cycle. Describe the elements of a viable continuity program. Primary Audience The primary audiences for this course are personnel at any level of government, representatives from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), or representatives from private industry who may have a need for a basic understanding of continuity of operations. Prerequisites None CEUs: 0.1 Course Length: 1 hour IS-547.A: Introduction to Continuity of Operations This course is to be completed after taking the IS-546.a - Continuity of Operations Awareness Course. The course describes the Continuity Management Cycle and how it should be used to develop sound continuity of operations plans. Although ir directly addresses continuity requirements for Federal Executive branch organizations, the course is also useful to State, local, territorial, and tribal governments. Course Objectives: At the end of this course, the participants will be able to: Define Continuity of Operations. Identify the legal basis for Continuity of Operations. Describe the structure of the continuity planning team. Explain the continuity program management cycle. Identify the phases of continuity. Recognize the steps in the continuity planning model. Primary Audience The primary audience for is personnel at any level of government, representatives from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), or representatives from private industry who may have a need for a basic understanding of continuity of operations.
