The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination to select candidates for the Mechanical Department of Indian Railways. The SCRA exam eligibility: Nationality: A Candidate must be either a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 01 January , 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or Age: A candidate must have attained the age of 17 years and must not have attained the age of 21 years Upper age relaxation is given to the candidates from reserved categories. Age relaxation norms are as follows: Scheduled caste or Scheduled tribe – up to 5 years Other backward classes – up to 3 years Eligibility: Candidates should have passed their Intermediate/class 12th examination with Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry should be studied as one of their main subject in the examination. Candidates must have secured first or second class as their respective result. Or, Candidates should have completed their graduation with Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry should be studied as one of their main subject in the examination. SCRA Examination Pattern: The SCRA Exam shall be in objective modes containing multiple choice type questions. Major sections are General Ability, Physical Sciences and Mathematics respectively. Examination will be conducted in two parts: Part I contains – Paper I: General Ability Test (GK, English & Psychological Test): The total marks will be 200. Paper II: Physical Sciences (Physics & Chemistry): The total marks will be 200. Paper III: Mathematics: The total marks will be 200. Overall Marks: 600 Marks The exam duration will be 2 Hours for each paper. Part II covers a personality test of 200 marks. However, this part will be conducted only for those candidates, who have qualified their written examination. |
