All India Pre Medical/ Pre Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT), now National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a one tier national level medical entrance exam conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) Admissions in government or private medical colleges for MBBS and BDS courses in India will be solely based on the NEET score. NEET 2017 – All India Quota As per Medical Council of India report, there are 462 medical colleges which offer 63,835 seats under NEET across India. 15% MBBS and BDS seats in Medical Colleges are reserved as All India Quota. However, candidates from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for 15 % All India Quota seats. • The CBSE draws the merit list of qualified candidates for 15% All India quota seats of the NEET by marks scored in the entrance exam. • The merit list prepared by the board will be equal to the number of seats available under 15% All India Quota. • One in the merit list is only qualified for the Online Counselling by Medical Council Committee (MCC). • Allotment of seats under 15% All India quota is determined in order of merit list and centralized NEET counselling. During the counselling, one is given a choice to select the colleges one prefers. However, the admissions of qualified candidates to MBBS/BDS courses are made only by following the existing reservation policy of India. The inter-se-merit of the two candidates obtaining equal marks in the NEET -UG 2017, shall be determined in the following order: 1. One obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) 2. One obtaining higher marks in Chemistry. 3. One with less number of attempted wrong answers in all the subjects. 4. One older in age to be preferred. NEET 2017 – State Quota 85% of seats are under the State Quota. One from the respective states can apply for the seats under State Quota. The allotment of seats under the State Quota in different states is based on the State level counselling. • Admission under the State Quota Seats depends on reservation policy and eligibility criteria prevailing in the State/Union Territory as notified by the respective State/Union Territory from time to time. • The reservation of the seats in medical colleges for respective categories is subject to applicable laws prevailing in State/Union Territory concerned. • Admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in Private Medical Colleges Pune is subject to the norms in the respective State/Union Territory. • Admission to AFMC, Pune is subject to the policies prescribed by the Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services, Ministry of Defence, and Government of India. One has to register for the seats under State Quota. One who is eligible for State Quota seats is requested to contact the appropriate State Admission Authority & Directorate of Medical Education for the same. |
