Can you tell me about the eligibility requirement for M.Sc. Biotechnology Program offered by SAU (South Asian University)? Also tell me about the format of its entrance exam?

M.Sc. Biotechnology program of SAU (South Asian University) has been developed with an aim to produce graduates who would have sufficient knowledge and expertise to pursue inherent problems of the region. M.Sc. (Biotechnology) is a two-year (four semesters) academic programme.

Minimum Eligibility
One should have 12 years’ Schooling, a 3 year Bachelor’s degree in any area of Biological Sciences / Chemistry / Agriculture and allied sciences / Veterinary and Allied Sciences / Biotechnology / Biochemical Technology from an institution recognized by the Government of the respective SAARC countries.

One should have passed Graduation with at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade.

One, who has not studied Biology at Bachelor level, must have studied and passed Biology as a subject at 10+2 (12th Class) level.

Format of the Entrance Test

The question paper has two parts: Part A and Part B. All questions will be multiple-choice type with four choices of answer.

Each question will carry one mark. Calculators and Log Tables may be used. There will be no negative marking.

Part A –
It consists of 30 questions carrying one mark each.
The paper will be of 10+2 (12th Class) level. This Part will have questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
One is expected to attempt all questions from Part-A.

Part B –
It consists of a total 120 questions out of which the candidates will have to answer any 70 questions.
The paper will be of B.Sc. Level. Part-B will have 60 questions from Biology (including Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Plant and Animal Sciences, Genetics, Microbiology, 30 questions from Chemistry, 15 questions from Physics and Biophysics, and 15 questions from Mathematics and Biostatistics.
