Academic Grading is based on a percentage system. The percentages between 60-79 are considered excellent and are quite difficult to obtain. The course may be assigned anywhere between 4 to 8 credit points wherein 1 credit is equal to 30 learning hours. Generally there are four different types of coursesin all the programmes conducted at University of Mumbai. Compulsory Courses = 4 credits per course Core / Special Courses = 3 credits per course Applied Components = 3 credits per course Foundation Courses = 2 credits per course Skill Courses = 2 credits per course Skill Courses = 2 credits per course The total credit value shall be 120 credits for all UG programmes across the faculties. Grading System- A Letter Grade system corresponding to ten point scale be adopted uniformly for all courses. The letter Grades and corresponding grade points are given below. Marks Grade Point Letter Grade 75-100 7.5-10.0 O 65-74 6.5-7.49 A+ 60-64 6.0-6.49 A 55-59 5.5-5.99 B+ 50-54 5.0-5.49 B 0-49 0.0-4.9 F The Semester Grade point Average (SGPA) will be calculated in the following manner SGPA = gc / g for a semester, where g is grade and c is credit for the paper/ subject. The Cumulative Grade Point Average for the entire course (CGPA) will be calculated as follows: CGPA = gc / g for all semesters taken together.
