I want to get admission in M.Tech in Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati so can you tell me the criteria of admission?

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati invites application form for admission in M.Tech Computer Science & Engineering

M.Tech Computer Science & Engineering

Admissions into the M.Tech. programme happens only once a year (for the July Session).

Advertisement generally comes out immediately after GATE result announcement and Counselling happens sometime in May-June.

Eligibility Criteria-

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area or MSc (Computer Science/Information Technology) or Graduates (AMIETE) from Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) in Computer Science & Engineering or MCA from a recognized Institution and a valid GATE score in CS.

Minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks or First Class in the qualifying degree,

All regular category candidates (except those having BTech degrees from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 7.0) must possess a valid score of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

Regular candidates are admitted based on their GATE score in CS.

Non-Regular candidates have to appear for written-test and Interview.

Criteria for short-listing candidates:

BE/B.Tech (CS/IT/ECE/EEE) with 60% / 6.5 CPI (for General and OBC) & 55% / 6.0 CPI (for SC/ST/PD) with the following GATE cut-off score.

(a) General: GATE CS and GATE score ≥ 600

(b) OBC-NCL (regular) : GATE CS and GATE score ≥ 550

(c) SC : GATE CS and GATE score ≥ 400

(d) ST : GATE CS and GATE score ≥ 400

(e) PD : GATE CS and GATE score ≥ 400

(f) Sponsored : As per Institute rules (GATE not mandatory)

(g) PT/Inst./Project Staff : As per Institute rules (GATE not mandatory)
