Candidates having studied or passed B. Tech from IITs with a CGPA of 8 are eligible for direct admissions to M. Tech programmes across IITs whereas rest all candidates are required to have appeared in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

In order to apply for M. Tech admission at IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Guwahati, the candidates have to apply through 2 channels – through the application portal of IIT Guwahati and through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) for accepting admission offers.

M. Tech Eligibility Criteria (Basic Criteria)
• For M. Tech admissions at IITs, one has to first apply at the individual IIT and then have to apply through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) for accepting admission offers.
• One must have secured CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks in the qualifying degree, fulfilling specific requirements for different programmes. SC/ST/PwD candidates get relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CPI.
• All regular candidates should have valid GATE scores.
• One having B. Tech degree from any IIT with minimum CPI of 7 can apply for direct admissions across IITs.
• Candidates claiming reservation have to enclose certificate and self-declaration statement as per the prescribed format.
• One who has yet to appear in the qualifying exam is also eligible to apply for M. Tech admissions. However, appear in all their qualifying degree exams and complete all requirements for their degrees. If such candidate gets provisional admission, one need to produce the qualifying degree exam result.

Shortlisted candidates must bring the following to the venue if are called for Written Test/Interview/counselling,

• DD for the application fee
• The listed documents in Application Form in original and attested photocopies (whichever is applicable)
