NHPC Limited , a Govt. of India Enterprise, was fused in the year 1975 with an approved share capital of Rs. 2,000 million and with a goal to arrange, advance and sort out an incorporated and productive improvement of hydroelectric power in all angles. Later on NHPC extended its items to incorporate advancement of energy in every one of its angles through regular and non-traditional sources in India and abroad.

At present, NHPC is a Mini Ratna Category-I Enterprise of the Govt. of India with an approved share capital of Rs. 1,50,000 Million. NHPC is positioned as a head association in the nation for improvement of hydropower.
